Whether you fancy partying the night away in fancy dress or hiding behind popcorn enjoying a horror film, here are 12 ways to celebrate the spookiest time of year in Cheltenham

Halloween Party, Cheltenham Martial Arts

When: 10am-12pm, Saturday October 27

How much? Free

Cheltenham Martial Arts will host a Halloween Party with sweets, games and prizes to be won.


Tee-rrifying Halloween, Mr Mulligan’s

When: October 27 and 28

How much? Special offers available over the two days

Mr Mulligan’s scary golf course awaits children (and big children) with face painting, glow sticks, competitions, cocktails and pizza.


Suffolks Sunday Market

When: 11am-4pm, Sunday October 28

How much? Free

This month the Suffolks Sunday Market will have a harvest and Halloween theme, and also a dog show taking place on Daffodil Street. There will be over 90 stalls for visitors to peruse including plenty of local food and drink to sample.


Dracula film screening, Cheltenham Playhouse

When: 7pm, Saturday October 27

How much? £7

Starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, enjoy Hammer’s masterpiece Dracula on the big screen at Cheltenham Playhouse.


Spook-tacular Halloween Quiz, The Strand

When: 8pm, Wednesday October 31

How much? £1 entry and the winning team (up to six) takes the pot

Test your knowledge on all things ghoulish, including a round of horror film questions, in The Strand’s ‘Haunted Tavern’. Zombie and Dark ‘n’ Spooky cocktails will be served at the bar.


Carnival of the Dead Halloween Party, Bottle of Sauce

When: 5pm-late, Saturday October 27

How much? Free entry

Celebrate Halloween carnival style at Bottle of Sauce with samba drumming from Ola Samba, DJ set from The Sound of the Sunken Foal, Capoeria Dancers and a pop-up shack in the courtyard serving Dead Dodo tacos.


IT film screening, Clarence Social

When: Doors open from 5pm, Wednesday October 31

As part of their monthly cinema screenings, Clarence Social will screen the 2017 remake of Stephen King’s horror IT.


Halloween Havoc Heavy Metal Party, Frog and Fiddle

When: 7pm-11.30pm

The Frog and Fiddle’s Halloween Havoc Heavy Metal Party is back for its third annual instalment of rifts and revelry with performances from Backroads, DEAD HANDS and I Cried Wolf. See their Facebook page for more details.


Prestbury/Cheltenham Ghost Tour

Supposedly England’s ‘most haunted village,’ Prestbury is home to plenty of spooky tales, from the Charging Cavalier to the commonly spotted and most famous apparition, the Black Abbot! Cotswold Ghost Tours also offer tours in the centre of Cheltenham.


Devil Glow Run

When: From 5pm, Saturday October 27

Fun for all the family, grab your glowsticks, UV paint and brightly coloured clothing for the Devil Glow Run. The course will involve plenty of obstacles including tunnels, crawlers, climbs and water pits. Medals will be awaiting all competitors.


Thriller Live, Everyman Theatre

Straight from London’s West End, Thriller Live is a spectacular celebration of Michael Jackson’s 45 year musical history. Sing and dance along to two hours of non-stop hits including Beat It, Billie Jean and, of course, Thriller.


Halloween Party, The Retreat

The Retreat Wine Bar will host a Zombie Disco and live music from Just Shut Up And Dance. Prizes to be won for best Halloween fancy dress.


Drag Queen Story Time, The Swan

When: 2pm-4pm, Sunday October 28

How much? £7 for adults, £5 for children

Punky Moms and Kids To The Front presents a Halloween Spooktacular featuring Drag Queen Story Time. Enjoy an afternoon of family fun, music and stories with profits going to the Gloucestershire Breastfeeding Network.


The Rocky Horror Picture Show screening, The Daffodil

When: Either 5.30pm or 9.30pm, Wednesday October 31

Enjoy a delicious three-course meal, with bottomless Prosecco whilst relaxing and enjoying your exclusive showing of the iconic film The Rocky Horror Picture Show, complete with surround sound and light show.
