The dazzling event will see the historic castle and gardens transformed by illuminated displays of light and colour

More than 10,000 LEDs, 300 metres of festoon lights and seven sound systems have been used to create the audio visual extravaganza, which takes visitors on a magical trail around the historic grounds, including the romantic ruins and majestic gardens.

It is the third year the Spectacle of Light has taken place at Sudeley Castle and the event promises to be the biggest yet according to producer, Nic Beeby: “This year’s Spectacle of Light has been nine months in the making, so to see it finally coming together is incredibly exciting. It really is the highlight of the region’s winter calendar and we are looking forward to welcoming visitors over the coming weeks for an evening of awe and wonder at this magical time of year.”

This year’s event has an Alice in Wonderland theme and visitors are invited to follow the White Rabbit around the attraction, meeting some of the Lewis Carroll’s other popular characters along the way.

Other highlights include a vast garden of ‘poppies’ surrounding the castle’s church, made from 850 red spheres which poignantly commemorate the end of the First World War.

Visitors can also make a Christmas wish on an illuminated wishing tree, see a display of meteors, a lawn of giant tulips, beautiful Moroccan lanterns and a giant moon shimmering over the castle’s koi pond.
